BLS was founded in 2019 to give decision-makers something the energy sector rarely receives: independent, verifiable, engineering-grade evidence.
We started as a product development consultancy. Over time, it became clear that the greatest unmet need in our sector wasn't development help — it was honest, expert analysis. Utilities, investors, and OEMs were making significant procurement, investment, and deployment decisions with inadequate technical evidence. Supplier claims went unchallenged. Risks went undetected. Costs went unvalidated.
We pivoted to fill that gap, and we haven't looked back.
Today, BLS is a specialist independent engineering intelligence firm working exclusively in energy, utilities, battery storage, and datacenter power. Our team is small by design — every engagement is led and delivered by experienced engineers, not passed down to junior analysts.
